Waitohi Ferry Redevelopment Project Update Week beginning 7 September What’s happening this week? Marine works Construction of the future Transition Berth continues, with 25 piles now installed. This week, crews will continue piling works for the future linkspan connection and long dolphin structure. The Transition Berth will provide temporary infrastructure for existing Interislander ferries while the new permanent ferry terminal facilities are constructed, helping maintain ferry services and minimise disruption during the redevelopment. Demolition of a section of the No. 1 Long Arm East wharf also continues this week. Temporary scaffolding and access arrangements are being installed to maintain safe access for Interislander operational staff while these works are undertaken. Landside works Work continues within the No. 2 Long Arm area, including investigations through the existing wharf structure and the removal of sections of old marine infrastructure that are no longer required. Divers may be working in the water within the exclusive marine construction zone. HEB Site Office Works Installation of the main temporary HEB site office structure begins this week beside the Edwin Fox Museum. Crane lifts, deliveries and temporary footpath closures will be required while the building is erected. Pedestrian diversions will be in place where needed, so please follow the signs and directions from the site team. Weekend Work To help maintain progress on key project activities, some construction work may occur on Sundays over the coming weeks. These activities will be coordinated around ferry operations and carried out in accordance with project consent requirements and applicable construction noise limits. If you’re around the Waitohi Picton foreshore or town, you may notice activity associated with marine investigations, material deliveries and other project works
