Waitohi Ferry Redevelopment Project Update Week beginning 14 September What’s happening this week? Marine works Construction of the future Transition Berth continues, with over half of the total piles required now installed. This week, crews will continue installing piles for the future linkspan connection and long dolphin structure. Rock bags are also being placed along the shoreline to help protect the shoreline during construction. The Transition Berth will provide temporary infrastructure for existing Interislander ferries while the new permanent ferry terminal facilities are constructed, helping maintain ferry services and minimise disruption during the redevelopment. Removal of a section of the No. 1 Long Arm East wharf also continues this week. Temporary scaffolding and access arrangements have been installed to maintain safe access for Interislander operational staff while these works are undertaken. Removal of existing dolphin piles at No.2 Long Arm is starting this week. Divers may be working in the water within the exclusive marine construction zone Landside works Work continues around No. 2 Long Arm, including investigations of the existing wharf structure, removal of redundant marine infrastructure and safe relocation of navigational lights. HEB Site Office Works Construction of HEB’s temporary site office beside the Edwin Fox Museum is continuing this week, with scaffolding now in place as the building takes shape. Crane lifts, deliveries and occasional temporary footpath closures will occur while the structure is being erected. Pedestrian diversions are in place where required, so please follow all signage and directions from the site team. Weekend Work To help maintain progress on key project activities, some construction work may occur on Sundays over the coming weeks. These activities will be coordinated around ferry operations and carried out in accordance with project consent requirements and applicable construction noise limits. If you’re around the Waitohi Picton foreshore or town, you may notice activity associated with marine investigations, material deliveries and other project works.
