We are proud to announce the launch of the 2025 Values Awards, a new initiative that celebrates the people who bring Port Marlborough’s values to life every day.
In 2018, Port Marlborough underwent a significant transformation, introducing a refreshed vision and strategy built around four pillars: People, Planet, Prosperity, and Partnerships. This marked a shift from a traditional infrastructure focus to a broader commitment to sustainability and positive community impact, and putting People at the centre of our strategy.
As part of this evolution, we collaboratively developed our core values – Hauora (Wellbeing), Kaitiakitanga (Protect the Future), Mahi Tahi (Teamwork), Pono (Integrity), and Kairangatira (Excellence). These values were designed by workers from across the business to guide our actions, shape our culture, and inspire how we work together to drive success for Marlborough.
Over the years, we’ve seen these values become embedded across the organisation, but recent feedback from employee engagement surveys and workshops has shown us there’s more we can do to connect our people with these values, and that our people would like an opportunity to celebrate colleagues who bring their best to work every day. This programme is a direct response to that feedback and provides an opportunity to celebrate the actions, big and small, that reflect our shared values and drive our collective success.
The 2025 Values Awards Programme features five categories aligned with our core values:
Starting today, Monday, 13 January, nominations open for you to recognise colleagues whose efforts inspire and embody our values. Nominations will close on Monday 5th May at 5pm.
Full details, including examples and nomination forms, will be shared via this newsbite, through regular updates to our intranet Te Ihuwaka, and with managers in team meetings. QR codes linking directly to our nomination portal are available on posters throughout workspaces as well.
Recognition is powerful. It highlights individual and team contributions, and strengthens our collective pride in the culture we’ve built together.
The Values Awards provide an opportunity to reflect on and appreciate the everyday excellence that supports us to continue driving success for our region, and ensuring that Port Marlborough continues to be a great place to work.
Winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony in June, where we’ll come together to celebrate their achievements. We have some amazing prizes for our winners and nominees. More on that later!
