Port tour for government representatives Together with Mayor Nadine Taylor, and CEO of Marlborough District Council Mark Wheeler, we recently welcomed MP Stuart Smith, and Minister of Finance Nicola Willis for a tour of Port Marlborough facilities to discuss the future of the Ferry project. Minister Willis received an overview of the port’s role in the Ferry redevelopment project and the status of the “Wind-Up” works in progress. The meeting was positive, and highlighted both the importance of Marlborough in the national supply chain for both tourism and freight, and Port Marlborough’s role and potential to support further development. Port Marlborough CEO Rhys Welbourn said “We await the outcome of the feedback from the Ministerial Advisory Group, which in February was tasked with undertaking a review of the service, and providing independent advice and assurance on the future of KiwiRail’s inter-island ferry service. This is scheduled to be around July, when we hope to have clarity on the next steps for Port Marlborough and our region.” Minister of Finance Nicola Willis and Port Marlborough CEO Rhys Welbourn.
