Port Marlborough works closely with Marlborough District Council, NIWA and the Top of the South Biosecurity Partnership, Ministry of Primary Industries and other agencies to optimise marine biosecurity outcomes for the Port, Marinas and wider environment.
Scheduled physical checks are regularly undertaken in the port and marina areas in our ongoing collaboration programme to protect against marine pests. Education of our staff and marina users in particular is an ongoing focus.
Predator management continues within the Port and marinas as part of our ongoing land management, in association with Picton Dawn Chorus and Kaipupu Wildlife Sanctuary.
Port Marlborough is an international port and our Port team are therefore charged with ensuring all border biosecurity protocols are met. We work very closely with the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board and other agencies to ensure best practice border management and protection.
